WHOSE LIFE IS IT?
The three words in our name, Run Hope Work, describe our holistic intervention, designed to train Washington DC’s young adults for the workforce and provide a pathway out of poverty for underserved DC youth ages 18-24. Our program utilizes a developmentally appropriate approach that combines physical fitness training, free therapy, meditation, vocational training and job placement to promote overall well-being and empower youth for long-term employment.
WHAT WE DO
Program participants complete hundreds of hours of running, meditation and vocational training. Trades include drywall, painting, flooring and more. The ultimate goal is for each youth to leave the program with a full-time job but more importantly to ensure they have a plan for themselves and a positive sense of self.
"It’s been hard but it helps you out a lot."
"After the meditation, I don’t think about what is holding me down anymore."
"I enjoyed the opportunity to see whether I wanted to do all the different trades. And at the end of the program, you come out of it with something."
"The program brought back my motivation and work ethic, and gave me hope that I would actually have a career."
"RHW helped change my mindset on life and made me want to change other youth’s lives. The biggest thing I took from the program is to work smarter not harder and I’ve installed it into my everyday life."
